Captain Nazri together with SMC helping ex seafarer, Vimalraj.





PETALING JAYA: Vimalraj S/O Vesunathan was a seafarer, he was unfortunate as he was involved in an accident during working as a cadet. As a result of this accident, he was paralyzed from his waist to his feet. Alam Budi has taken action for this incident and didn't ignore Vimalraj as he was one of the crew in their ship. Captain Nazri(second from left, second picture), the IMO Maritime Ambassador for Malaysia has come to his concern that Vimalraj are part of the industry as he was a seafarer, therefore in order to not giving up Vimalraj's hope, Captain Nazri is trying to find a suitable job or any employment for Vimalraj. Vimalraj is interested in IT fields. He is currently pursuing his study in advanced software installation course in Pusat Rehabilitasi Perkeso Melaka. He is also interested in IT studies via net such as E-Business and programming. He has the skills to make slides, video presentation and short video making. He is currently living in Gelugor, Penang. Moreover, he is willing to continue his study in shipping management field. He is also willing to work in a crewing department field.

Meeting between OSV members and IMO Maritime Ambassador for Malaysia.

SUBANG JAYA: Captain Nazri, with Dato' Captain Jailani Jalal (Director of Ports and Seafarers Welfare) met MOSVA members to discuss about the issues that has to be faced by Malaysian crew, and how to improve Seafarer Management Center's database. It is the IMO Maritime Ambassador for Malaysia's concern to discuss and trying to solve the issues of Malaysian crews. Some of the issues that discussed in the meeting are:

  • How to improve Malaysian seafarers' discipline and behavior.
  • Certain position on a ship are vacant, but there are no seafarers available, therefore in the future Marine Department of Malaysia will train existing seafarers to encourage them to be promoted to officers and masters.
  • Seafarers sea time on the sea are not counted if they work on barges, therefore if a seafarer work on barges, the sea time of the seafarer will be counted but halved in the future.

This has come to IMO Maritime Ambassador for Malaysia's concern, and will take action on the issues discussed.
